Description:
In the past year, many jobs have been lost and companies have been forced to close down due to the economic recession. The few who have survived are barely scraping by with what they have. Songkla is an independent store started by siblings Tung and Thanh Vo, that sell their own handmade garments. In an industry that is highly competitive, they never backed down on what they want to accomplish, bringing innovation and alternative brands to the fashion scene in Calgary. Finding the past year difficult for business, they decided to close down Songkla and revision the goals of the store, creating a studio environment and focussing on their own line, Mananoshe. Filmed on the opening night of their studio/store, this short video is a portrait of Songkla, capturing an optimistic view of taking risks at a time of adversity.
